Christian Health Insurance

Jesus and the Bible must have one HELLUVA public relations firm. They come off as loving and peaceful until the truth of what is actually written in the Bible comes up.

Here is my worry: The arbitrary nature of what modern Christians believe is right and wrong will justify atrocities. I mean they've rationalized the eating of shrimp, what's to stop them from rationalizing murder, theft, and dishonesty? (hm, now to think of it, maybe they already have...)

"Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales; that shall be an abomination to you." (Leviticus 11:12)

Next time you see a Christian eating shrimp, lobster, or crab be sure to let them know that they are disobeying the teaching of the bible. GASP!

My point is that it seems to me that modern Christians are unprincipled at best, and hypocritical at worst.

For example, Leviticus is often cited to promote anti-gay political policies (hello, separation of church and state anyone??):

"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:13)

Next time some Christian idiot quotes the bible to you, be sure to educate them of these quotes from the Bible:

"Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property." (Leviticus 25:44-45) Be sure to share this one with your African American Christian friends, I am sure they will be thrilled to learn that the Bible fully endorses the practice of slavery.

"For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

This means Christians must kill their own children if they cursed at by them.

"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him." (James 5:14-15)So why are there so many Christians with health insurance and in the hospitals? Just pray guys, that will heal you!

"...and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you." (Leviticus 11:7) Be sure to let the Christians hear that one, especially as they enjoy the Christmas Ham.

"If a man lies with a woman during her sickness and uncovers her nakedness, he has discovered her flow, and she has uncovered the flow of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from her people." (Leviticus 20:18)

For goodness sake, women, don't have sex on your period.

The list goes on and on and on...Sure, the bible is STUPID and INCONSISTENT but I will go further. The bible is EVIL:

'He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.' (Matthew 15:4-7)Jesus chastised by the Pharisees for not scrubbing up before eating. He changes the subject and yells at them for not killing their disobedient children. Not only EVIL but UNHYGIENIC too. Yuck.

"Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God.

That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT) Sounds like terrorism to me. Someone notify DHS. EVIL

"As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you." (Deuteronomy 20:10-14) Sooooo, let me get this straight. The bible says it's OK to rape and pillage? Hm.... EVIL

"They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman." (2 Chronicles 15:12-13) Kill non-believers. EVIL

"But if this charge is true, and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst." (Deuteronomy 22:20-21)

Death for pre-marital sex. Wow, how many Christians would be dead today if this were enforced? EVIL

"Then at the LORD's command, he shouted, 'O altar, altar! This is what the LORD says: A child named Josiah will be born into the dynasty of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests from the pagan shrines who come here to burn incense, and human bones will be burned on you.'" (1 Kings 13:1-2 NLT)

"Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved. When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done.

Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving. They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too." (Romans 1:24-32)

Here is my challenge: Convince every Christian to truly live as the Bible tells you. This will leave most Christians in prison for violent crimes and will allow us free thinkers to live peaceably.

Those who won't, ask them why. Press for an answer that makes sense and isn't contradictory. When they default to the answer "We need religion to keep people from performing violent acts and make people good" remind them of all the passages from above.

Why don't they try a reality based morality? How about a fidelity to how things truly are, i.e., HONESTY? How about a morality based upon SYMPATHY, i.e., being able to put yourself in someone elses shoes? Neither one of these principles have anything to do with "god" or "religion" and can be practiced without them.
